Dr. Steven Ekema Agbaw works both as a professor of English literature at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania and as a director of Frederick Douglass Institute on campus.
In May - June 2006, Dr. Agbaw has spent 6 weeks at the Department of English and American Studies in order to help to establish a tradition of postcolonial literature in Nitra. During this period, he conducted several workshops and seminars intended for students of our department where the basic concepts of postcolonialism and colonial / postcolonial literature were introduced. Students have also had many opportunities to read and discuss postcolonial fiction which was personalized via Ekema' s own experience with colonialism in his native Cameroon.
Dr. Agbaw has participated in the international colloquium Aspect of postcolonial literature, a pioneering event, since it was the very first academic colloquium focused on this type of literature in Slovakia.
